Keyboards are offered in group classes, semi- private groups and private tuition. Keyboard Classes are 45 minutes once a week and run for 10 lessons a term. Students are grouped by similar age and skill level. Students learn to play fun songs by learning to read the treble clef and accompanying chords.
Semi-Private Keyboard Groups (2 to 3 students) are available for family and friends who would like to learn together. This option is half an hour once a week for 10 lessons a term.
Private Keyboard Lessons are offered in a one to one setting. Private tuition is for the student who has specific goals in mind or who prefer individual attention. Private tuition is offered for half an hour once a week for 10 lessons a term.
At the end of each grade of study, students are invited to take our Glasnevin Academy of Music Keyboard Examinations. This allows students to perform three of their chosen pieces that they have learned over the year and demonstrate the required scales, chords, and theory. Our examinations are a fun and motivating way for students to focus their studies and develop all aspects of their playing in a structured way. It provides motivation to increase their knowledge of techniques and music theory and gain a repertoire of songs.
Students do not have to bring their keyboards to the lesson as they are set up in the School, yet it is encouraged for students to own a keyboard to ensure they are getting the most out of the lessons. Call the office for more information on ordering an appropriate keyboard.
